Black & White

I brought back the pieces here that I did for my second oldest illustration client, John Jay, of Bloomingdale's.

I went to see the famed creative director at the beginning of 1989 to show him my portfolio - yes, you could do that in those days. By the time I got home, there was a message from him waiting to give me the first commission! He gave me black and white work to be used for newspaper ads. He gave total freedom and I enjoyed working on them.

When there are no other colors, the shapes are everything. I enjoy the challenge of perfecting them using minimal textures.
